Sign-up for Email notification
The Pickering Public Library is now offering an email notification service. Here’s how the service works:
- You will be sent an email at the address you specify when an item becomes available for you (a hold). This will replace the automated phone call that most clients receive.
- You will also be sent an email when items that you have borrowed have been overdue for several days. This will replace the automated phone call that most clients receive.
- You will continue to receive printed notices in the regular mail for long overdue items and for notification of outstanding charges.
Please make sure that you use an email account that you check regularly to ensure that you get your information promptly. If your email address changes please inform the Library right away by calling 905-831-6265 ext. 6228, or your local branch, or email the Circulation Department. If the Library has trouble sending an email to you, your account will be set back to phone notification so that you are sure to receive information about your holds and overdues.
Children under 14 require the permission of a parent or guardian, in person at the Library, to use the email notification service.
Please be aware that email can be lost or go astray. Library staff will make every effort to ensure that you receive these messages but can’t guarantee this.
When you place a hold, the catalogue will continue to display a message about notification by phone (even though you will be notified by email). Please disregard this message.
If you share an email account with others, you should be aware that the email that you receive will include the titles of items on hold or overdue on your account. Please see the Privacy Policy for details.
