Accessible Services:

Visiting Library Service
Visiting Library Service (VLS) is a free service provided to Pickering residents of all ages who cannot visit the Library due to temporary or long-term disability. For more information please read our Visiting Library Service page.

Accessible website with BrowseAloud:
The Pickering Public Library's website uses BrowseAloud, a free software for people who have difficulty reading online. For instructions for using this software, please read the following page.

TDD or TTY line:
A TDD line (an alternative service channel for the hard of hearing) is available at the Pickering Central Library.

CNIB Daisy Talking Books:
The Pickering Public Library has partnered with the CNIB to offer access to the CNIB Circulating Library of over 90,000 titles in multiple formats. We are also pleased to offer a rotating collection of DAISY Talking Books that are available in the library. You may also want to try one of our DAISY players.
Pickering Library clients with print disabilities can now register to access the CNIB Library Services. Materials can be ordered and picked up at your local Library branch.

Accessible Internet and Catalogue Stations:
Accessible workstations (with adjustable seating, font size, screen readers and audio capabilities) are provide for clients at the Central Library and Petticoat Creek Branch.

Accessible Self-checkout stations:
Accessible self-checkout stations are available at the Central Library.

Large Print and other formats:
Pickering Public Library has a variety of formats available to our clients in alternative formats. Large Print, large print paperbacks, books on cd, books on iPod devices are available through our branches.

Service Disruptions and Program Cancellations:
Notices of temporary disruptions to service and program cancellations. Information about Service Disruptions and Program Cancellations can also be obtain by calling 905-831-6265 x6300.
