Library Closures Due to COVID-19

Last updated: September 9, 2020

Status update on operations:

  • Updates regarding the City’s response to COVID-19 will be communicated online at pickering.ca.
  • As of Tuesday, August 11, 2020 curbside service no longer requires a pre-booked appointment. Upon arriving to curbside service locations, please follow the signs posted to alert staff. The service remains only for clients who have received notification that their hold requests are ready for pickup. For hours of operation and more details, visit picnet.org/curbsideservice.
  • All Pickering Public Library locations are now open for public access. All locations are operating with modified hours and with site specific occupancy limits, in alignment with the Province's Stage 3 Guidelines. For hours of operation and a list of available services, visit picnet.org/welcomeback.
  • All in-person Library programs remain cancelled until further notice. Please see our program calendar for online programs.
  • All room bookings at the Pickering Public Library remain cancelled until further notice. Full refunds will be issued for any rentals that are cancelled as a result of the pandemic impacts. New room booking requests cannot be processed at this time.
  • The Library is accepting returns, however rest assured clients will not incur late fees during this time. Drop boxes at all locations have re-opened. When using the drop box, please note:
    • Donations will not be accepted and will be discarded immediately due to safety concerns and guidelines related to COVID-19.
    • Curbside staff will not accept returns directly. Items must be placed in the drop box to ensure a contactless experience for clients and staff.
  • Loan periods have been increased to maximize access to materials. Several material types have been upgraded to a 21-day loan period. Hold requests are now accepted on all materials that are circulating for 21 days. See more details at picnet.org/borrowing.
  • Staff are available by phone at 905-831-6265, online chat, and email at [email protected], Monday to Friday from 9 am to 7 pm and Saturday 9 am to 5 pm.

Our digital collection and many resources online are available to you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Visit picnet.org/digitalresources for more information.
