Entrepreneurs and their innovative businesses are key to Canada's economic growth. By responding to the changing demands of the marketplace and creating jobs, entrepreneurs continue to be a primary force in driving the national economy.
Since its inception in 1979, as a small event in British Columbia, Small Business Week has grown substantially in both size and scope. Now a nation-wide celebration of entrepreneurship, organized by Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) and endorsed by the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, Small Business Week continues to pay tribute to the important contribution that small businesses make to the national economy.
The theme for this year is: A world without boundaries, open to new markets. The world's developing economies are growing at a rapid pace and giving rise to huge business opportunities. Businesses across the globe are already setting their sights on the enormous potential of these expanding new economies and Canada's entrepreneurs are adjusting successfully to the changes in the global economy.
The Library is proud to support our local Small Business community through our collections and programs.
