Elizabeth B. Phin Public School from Pickering won first place in the Regional Battle of the Books competition. The final round of the Battle of the Books took place at the Oshawa Public Library Thursday, April 26 at 8pm. Four teams were in the competition including St. Luke the Evangelist from Whitby, Pierre Elliot Trudeau Public School from Oshawa, and Cadarackque Public School from Ajax. Battle of the Books is a considerable achievement because there are 36 books to read. Each school has a team of six contestants who compete to score points by identifying the titles, authors and characters of books from questions based on the plots and settings.
