TV Writers Strike Hits Hollywood and New York
The first strike by Hollywood TV writers in nearly 20 years is well under way, with noisy protesters and picket lines on both coasts — a walkout that will disrupt everything from late-night talk shows to soap operas.
The strike has already impacted shows that rely on timely, up-to-date materials like late-night talk shows hosted by Jay Leno, David Letterman and others. These shows are already airing re-runs. Other shows that require scripted materials may potentially be affected, yet many of the prime time shows such as Heroes, have enough scripted material to run at least until the new year.
Why let a little thing like a TV writers strike get in the way of your TV viewing? Why not catch up on some of your favourite shows' previous seasons and even some classics? Pickering Public Library has a fantastic collection of television DVDs. While you're at it, please be sure to check out our vast collection of movie DVDs as well as video games and music CDs.
No matter what your viewing interests are, the Pickering Public Library can help you find the information you need with a quick visit to one of our five branches or by calling 905-831-6265.
