Tourism in Pickering Begins @ Your Library

Visitors Guide to Pickering - Frontpage 2

Did you know that Pickering Central Library is the official tourist bureau for the City of Pickering? We are, and we have some wonderful travel related resources to help you out along the way. Whether you are from out-of-town or a local resident who just wants to be a tourist in their own city, let Pickering Central Library be your start and end point in your GTA excursions.

Your first "port-of-call" should be the Visitors Guide to Pickering. This web site is an excellent starting point as it contains information about everything from dining and accommodations in Pickering to places to see. Pickering is also a great place for outdoors activities such as hiking along nature trails, sailing and golf, and the Visitors Guide has a section just for the outdoors enthusiast. Pickering is also a stone's throw away from all that Toronto and Durham Region have to offer, and the Visitors Guide has a section on our neighbours as well.

Pickering is also home to Pickering Museum Village, a 19th century pioneer village that recreates the daily life of Pickering residents during the 1800s. The village has over a dozen vintage buildings that have been carefully and beautifully restored to their former glory. A production group called the Backwoods Players re-enact the daily life of residents in several productions and events throughout the year. For a virtual tour of Pickering Museum Village, please visit the Virtual Tours section of the library's web site.

Pickering Central Library also has a vast amount of free tourist brochures and pamphlets to all that Pickering, Durham Region and Toronto have to offer. Please pay the Central Library a visit or call 905-831-6265 for more information.
