The Treasure Hunt Mystery
I took a book from the library shelf and I noticed there was something on the shelf stuck behind it. I reached my hand out for it, then….YUCK! I felt something sticky! I pulled it out. It was a piece of gum with a sticky-note stuck on it. I looked at the book, it was entitled: THE TREASURE HUNT MYSTERY. It looked very cool! For some funny reason I had a feeling that this book had a connection to the sticky-note. I saw my mom on the other side of the shelf, she said that it was time to go checkout the book, so, without reading the note, I stuck it into my pocket. I grabbed the mystery book and I went to go check it out of the library. When I went to the front desk, the librarian tried to scan it but, it wouldn’t go through. The librarian took a look at the book. It had no library sticker on it. She said “This book is not part of our library; someone must have forgotten it here. I always see it on the shelf, so I guess no one is going to come back for this. Would you like it?” I answered: Yes! Thank you so much!” My mom stood next to me, with a ton of books in her arms.
When I got outside, I saw our car in the parking lot. I hopped in, put my belt on, and we were on our way to the gym at the recreation center. While my mom exercised, I read. I sat down by a nearby bench. I started to read the book. It was all about a girl who kept finding notes, she followed the steps, and did everything the notes said to do and in the end, she solved the mystery! Right away I remembered the note in my pocket. It took it out of my pocket. I read it, it said: In order to solve this fun, you must be on the run! Follow the clues, to get the news , Solve this case to win the race! What was that all about? What case? What clues? What news? And what race? I was so confused! And the curly writing had the same righting as the mystery book!
“Time to go!” my mom said. I followed her into the elevator. We went down. My dad was waiting for us by the pool. He had my sister, Sydney, and my brothers, Isaac and Jacob with him. This is a very special occasion! My parents were going to take me and my siblings swimming! It was because I scored my first goal in soccer! After I got my swim-suit on, I got into the pool. I was wearing my goggles. I dove off of the diving board. The water was cold! I started to swim under water. Then, I saw a in the water, a little-bottle with a message inside of it. I grabbed it and went up out of the water. I could see my mom swimming away under the water. I looked closely at the note it was a treasure-hunt list. I loved these! I thought treasure-hunts were like mysteries. And I LOVE mysteries! I went back into the water and swam by my mom. I told her all about the book and the two notes and how they all had the same righting. “Sounds like a cool mystery!” said my mom. “Are you going to do the hunt?” She asked. “You have this whole week to do it!” [It was Monday, March 10. The first day of March break.] “You bet!” I answered. About two hours later, after we got home and had lunch, I had told my dad the story. I went into my bedroom and took a look at the things on the list. A spring, a box, a shoe-lace .and some silver paint. Those things were really strange things for a treasure- hunt. Hmmmm. A spring. I wonder if my dad had any springs. I went downstairs to ask my dad if he had any springs. He pulled out his tool box and grabbed a spring out of it. He gave it to me and he asked why I wanted it. I told him it was an object on my list. I asked “By the way, do we have any boxes?” “No” replied my dad. “We put all the recycling in the bin and I threw out the last box with it.” I went into the kitchen were my mom was. I told her about the box crisis. She said I could go with her to the grocery store; there were lots of boxes there. I went upstairs to get dressed to go. Now I need to find a shoe-lace. Hey, I have some shoe-laces in my drawer! It was my lucky day, I never though I would be able to get ride of them! I pulled out a white shoe-lace from my drawer. I put the spring and the shoe-lace in my pocket. I went downstairs and followed my mom out the door.
When we got to the store, I remembered about the silver paint. I asked my mom if we could go into the hardware store next door and buy some. She said “I don’t know, paint is very expensive. And it comes in very big buckets!” I thought it’s a good thing the boxes are free! When we were on our way out, I picked up a box. It was a great size, so I took it. I let my mom carry the box. After we did the grocery shopping we went quickly next door. When we got inside, we saw a man holding a mini box of silver paint with a price tag that said: $2.99. My mom said we could buy it.
On our way home, my mom passed me the box. I looked inside the box. There was another note! It said: To finish this creation, Bring it back to its station. Meet us at 6548 sajoy Ave. No later than 7:30 Monday, March 10. I read the note out-loud so my mom could hear. She said it was almost 7:30 so. If I wanted to do this case, we would have to hurry. She put the address into our GPS. And we were on our way. When we got there, there was a woman waiting there. When we got out of the car she asked “Are you doing the Treasure-mystery?” I replied “Yes I am!” “I am Ms.Font. She said “Wait that’s not fair!” We heard lady behind us say. “He was tying his shoe-lace! We got here first! We won the race!” The lady was with her son. “And, he has all the items.” Ms. Font said to the lady: “There are two reasons you aren’t going to win. 1. These nice people came here first.2. You don’t have the box.” The lady looked very mad. “Bobby Chris Gale! You forgot to get a box!” “And it is 7:30 so you can’t get it know.” Ms.Font said. She turned to me. She said that I won the race. She took the objects from went inside her house and brought back a big thing-a-magig. She said it was an invention she made and she needed those objects to finish it. She said that after I go to school, it would clean and vacuum my room! She said I could have it! I was still a little confused. I said: “Wait, how did you get all the notes to us and to the same people? Did you follow us or something?” Ms. Font replied: “No, I gave the notes to your mothers and let them put it in different places you were going to.” That explained why I kept seeing my mom everywhere I found a note. I looked at my mom and she just smiled. I went home that night filled with joy. Wondering what kind of adventure I would have tomorrow.
