Ancient Games

Kids SRC 2007 - Ancient Games

Before Playstation, before Nintendo, even before electricity…there were games!

Are you familiar with Three-In-A-Row games like Tic-Tac-Toe? Long before paper and pencil, people in Europe, Asia and Africa have been playing similar games that included the alignment of symbols in a row. Many of these games were played on boards scratched in dirt or carved into wooden or stone benches. You can read more about these games at Games Museum

Anyone ages 8-11 may join in the fun on Wednesday, July 25 at 10:00 am at the Petticoat Creek Library or Thursday, July 26 at 2:00 pm.at the Pickering Central Library. We will be using paper and pencil with our games as well as the modern version of sheep knucklebones.
