Do you want an iPod with your audiobook?

The Pickering Public Library carries a large assortment of audiobooks on CD as well as audiobooks on MP3 CD. To supplement this audiobook collection, iHelp will also be offering audiobooks in iPod format. Hundreds of fiction and non-fiction titles will be available on library owned iPods that can be borrowed like any other library item OR you can bring in your own iPod and have iHelp staff download audiobooks directly to your device.
The iPod downloads are available Monday to Friday 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
To speak with a member of the iHelp staff, please call 905-831-6265 or 1-888-831-6266 ext. 6257.

Audiobooks on iPod

I feel it unfair that these books are only available to people owning ipods. There are many other mp3 players or phones with mp3 capability out here and I don't feel comfortable being responsible for your ipods. I don't expect there will be an answer that will be satisfactory so a reply is not required. I just felt your decision was a little unfair to those of us who chose a quality mp3 player instead of an ipod.

OverDrive allows downloads to a variety of portable devices

Dear reader,

In September 2009, the Library is launching a new service in partnership with OverDrive and the Ontario Library Service. Using the OverDrive Media Console, a free application, you can download digital audiobooks anytime and then transfer to a wide variety of portable mp3 devices. Search through OverDrive's collection of downloadable media, download the Media Console, and start listening. Please read more on our Featured Item OverDrive.
