Corporate Cards
Library memberships are available to firms or businesses -- for use by several people within the business, with one person having overall responsibility for the card.
Internet & Computer Access
The Internet is a great source for business start-up information. This is a free service. Workstations with a full suite of productivity software (word processing, presentations, spreadsheets) are also available free of charge to Library members.
Meeting Room Rental
Pickering Central Library has an Auditorium (capacity 100) and a Boardroom (capacity 12) available for meetings or seminars. Audio-visual equipment is also available. For rental information, contact Room Bookings staff at: (905) 831-6265 extension 6245.
Fax Service
The Central Library has a fax machine for public use. Rates are $1 for the first page, $0.50 per additional page for local numbers and $2 for the first page, $1.50 per additional page for long distance numbers within North America. (Please obtain an estimate from staff for other long distance charges).
Scanning
The Central Library has a flatbed scanner for public use at our new iHelp Desk. Scanning is available at 8 1/2 x 11 and the documents can be saved as JPG or PDF on your USB drive. Scanning is free.
Materials for Loan
You can borrow books, videos, cd-roms, magazines and tapes on a wide variety of business topics free of charge.
Reference Materials
Within the library you can consult materials on business law, business directories, government regulations, Statistics Canada publications, and more. We also carry Canadian Business, a comprehensive online business directory.
Business Programs
The Library partners with various local agencies to offer free programs of interest to the business community. Check our web site (www.picnet.org) for program announcements.
Online Resources
Authoritative content is available free of charge to the business community 24 hours a day / 7 days a week. This content includes:
- the Library’s award-winning Starting and Growing a Business in Pickering web site.
- NetLibrary which contains useful e-books such as How to be a Successful Consultant and Business Writing for Results.
- full text magazine indexes which provide articles and information on a wide variety of business topics.
