The Pickering Public Library is pleased to introduce Learn4Life. Learn4Life offers a wide range of highly interactive courses that you can take entirely online. Courses are free to library cardholders and are led by experts in their fields. Each course runs for six weeks and new sessions begin every month. (Upcoming sessions begin April 16th and May 22nd). MS Word, Photography, Creative Writing, Guitar, Languages, Successful Relationships, Job Searching and Starting Your Own Business are just a few examples of the many courses that are offered. Visit Learn4Life to register. View this short video on how to enroll in a course in Learn4Life.
Unlimited access to classes.
Courses have 2 lessons per week (Wednesdays and Fridays).
Students have until the 13th day after the course begins to access lessons 1 and 2. If students do not access lessons 1 and 2 by the end of the 13th day, they will be automatically dropped and it will not count against their allotment of 5 courses.
Once students access lessons 1 and 2, they are fully enrolled in the course. They will have access to the entire course from then on, and it will count against their allotment of 5 (even if they do not go beyond lessons 1 and 2).
Quizzes and discussion board are optional (but participating in them would probably enhance students' learning).
If student wants a certificate of completion, they have to do the final exam and pass it on the first try. If student passes, they will receive a link to the certificate which they print out themselves.
Please note: When enrolling, payment options will be mentioned. Please ignore. The courses are absolutely free for library clients. When you arrive at Step 3 in the enrollment process and choose your dates, payment options will disappear.
