Final Fantasy XII
What can I really say that hasn't been said many time and probably far more eloquently in other places? The latest Final Fantasy game: If you love the series you will want to play it, if you don't like the series then you will give it a pass.
For those not familiar with the Final Fantasy series, congratulations on waking up from your 20 year coma! Ho Ho! What a wit I am, well, that is at least half true. Anyhow, the series is the flagship of Japanese RPGs. This one is the most recent. You take a group of characters through a fairly complex storyline, slaying a lot of monsters in the process.
The combat system is different from previous titles in the series as there are no "encounters" that pull you into a separate battle environment. All monsters and fighting takes place on the "world map". Combat is also not turn based in this version, but semi-real time. You wait for your action meter to charge up, and then you either launch a default attack or can select to do some other specialized action.
The game has plenty of Final Fantasy goodness, Airships, Chocobos, moogles, super finishing moves etc. Fans of the series will have plenty of things to smile about.
I liked it, but it definitely suffered a bit graphically when compared with titles coming out for the next gen systems.
I give it 4 thumbs up.
